What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring a valid form of identification along with the document that you want notarized.
What form of identification do you accept?
1) California Drivers License OR Identification card
2) United States Passport
3) Inmate Identification Card issued by the California Department of Corrections, if the inmate is in custody at the time of the notarization.
4) Any form of Inmate Identification Card issued by a Sheriff’s Department, if the inmate is in custody in a local detention facility.
Other Identification documents may be accepted provided it contains: a photo, identifying or serial number, physical description and signature:
5) Passport issued by a foreign government or valid consular identification document issued by a consulate from the applicant’s country of citizenship.
6) A driver’s license issued by another state or by a Canadian or Mexican public agency authorized to issue drivers licenses.
7) Identification Card issued by any U.S. state
8) Identification card issued by a federally recognized tribal government
9) U.S. Military identification card
10) An employee identification card issued by an agency or office of a city in California, a county in California, a city and county of California, or the state of California.
IMPORTANT: Expired identification is acceptable IF issued within 5 years of date of notarization. Not acceptable for real estate transactions.
Are there any forms of identification that you do not accept?
Yes. Unacceptable forms of identification are as follows:
· Birth or Marriage Certificates
· Social Security Card
· Temporary Driver's License
· Credit or Debit card
· Student I.D. Cards
· Green Card/Resident Alien ID
Should I fill out the document in advance?
Yes. Your document should be filled out prior to your appointment, excluding your signature and date.
Should I sign the document in advance?
No. It is required that you sign the document in the presence of a notary.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes. Since all appointments are considered mobile you must schedule your appointment in advance.
What if I do not have the appropriate form to be notarized?
Depending on what your needs are, ASAP NOTARY USA may be able to provide you with the appropriate form at an additional cost.

Do you notarize documents for inmates?
No. Prison requirements are very strict for visitors. Therefore, we elect NOT to extend this service.
What form of payment do you accept?
Cash, Check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and any card displaying the JCB logo (credit, corporate, debit, prepaid, rewards).

Do I need a witness to also sign the document?
Only if you were told by an authorized authority associated with your document to obtain a witness(es).
What should I do if a witness is required?
You will need to bring your own witness(es) to the appointment. They will need witness the signer sign the document, present their identification, sign the notary book, and be thumbprinted. Please be advised if the signer is in a health care facility it is advised to contact the facility in advance to see if a health care specialist can act as a witness. Most facilities will not allow staff members to act in this capacity.
Are there any additional requirements I should know about?
Yes. The signer must be able to communicate with the notary without assistance from others. If you need a notary to speak a specific language, please contact us for assistance. Please keep in mind this process may take a few hours to find an available notary.
